DETAIL ITINERARY:

Day 1:Arrive in Lhasa:

We will pick you up at the airport or railway station. We will drive to Lhasa along Yarlung Zangbo River and Lhasa River and enjoy the Tibetan style dwellings on our way. Then we will take a rest and adapt ourselves to the plateau environment after we arrived at our hotel. Accommodation:3-star Standard HotelMeals:None

Day 2:Potala Palace – Jokhang Temple – Barkhor Street:

We will make a visit to the highest ancient castle style architectural complex above the sea level – Potala Palace in the morning. It was the residence of the Tibetan Dalai Lamas, as well as the political, educational and religious center of Tibet.

In the afternoon, we will pay a visit to the Jokhang Temple which was widely accepted as the spiritual center of Tibet. The precious Statue of 12-year Sakyamuni (the founder of Buddhism) brought to Tibet by Princess of Chinese Tang Dynasty and the statues of some eminent Buddhists are enshrined in the monastery. Then we will take a ramble at Barkhor Street which around the Jokhang Temple. It is a free market and a famous circumambulation in Tibet. Accommodation:3-star Standard HotelMeals:None

Day 3:Lhasa – Gongga:

It will take us 1.5 hours to drive to Gongga from Lhasa. We will keep driving toward Langda Village. Langda Village is about 10 kilometers away from Butang Monastery. It will take us three hours to trek to Butang Monastery which was constructed in 11th century. Accommodation:Guesthouse or TentMeals:None

Day 4:Butang Monastery – Mountain Pass:

We will set off from Butang Monastery and trek up along the valley. We will appreciate the landscape of Yamdrok Lake at Jiarela Mountain Pass. Then wewill trek down to Zayu Village,located at the bank of Yamdrok Lake at the foot of the mountain. We could enjoy the amazing sunset glow of Yamdrok Lake after we settle our camp there. Day 5:: Zayu Village – Gongbuxue Township:

We will set off from Zayu Village. We could enjoy a harmony idyllic landscape of herds and green fields on our journey. We will trek into the mountain valleys after we climb over the mountain near Zayu Village. Accommodation:Guesthouse or TentMeals:None

Day 6:Gongbuxue Township? Nimalong Village:

We will trek to Nimalong Pass in the morning. We can take an overview of Yamdrok Lake at the mountain Pass. It will present you a different appearance. Then we will trek down to Nimalong Village at the foot of the mountain. Accommodation:TentMeals:None

Day 7:Nimalong Village – Tebula Village – Duoque Township:

We will set off from Nimalong Village in the morning. We arrive at the bank of Yamdrok Lake again after we climb over a mountain along the highway. Tebula Village is located at the end of the highway. We will arrive in Duoque Township after two more hours trekking. Duoque Township is a relatively larger village. There are few teahouses and guesthouses. It is also noted for its air-dried mutton. Accommodation:Guesthouse or TentMeals:None

Day 8:Duoque Township –Dalong Town- A Za Township:

We can purchase some necessary supplies in the town seat of Nangkartse after we arrive in there by trekking or driving. Then we will keep moving toward A Za Township. We will connect with the lamas of Yumbudor Monastery firstly after we arrive in A Za Township.They will prepare ferry boat for us and take us to their monastery. Accommodation:Guesthouse or TentMeals:None

Day 9:A Za Township - Yumbudor Monastery:

We will leave A Za Township for Yumbudor Ferry, about 10 kilometers away in the morning. We will get on the boat and move toward Yumbudor Monastery, which is located on a small island. It was firstly constructed in 16th century. Few tourists visited the monastery because of the inconvenient transportation. Accommodation:Guesthouse or TentMeals:None

Day 10:Yumbudor Monastery Nangkartse - Lhasa:

We will make our way back to Lhasa via Nangkartse. Accommodation:3-star Standard HotelMeals:None

Day 11:Leave Lhasa:

We will transfer you to the airport or the railway station. Accommodation:NoneMeals:None

Notes for Your Tibet Tours

Before you go

Permits: 

  • Passport, Tibet Entry Permit, Aliens’ Travel Permit, Military Allowance.

Health Care: 

  • Tourists should take care of your body before you enter into Tibet. People who caught a severe cold, respiratory system diseases, heart diseases, hypertension or asthma are not advised to tour to Tibet.

Personal Belongings:

  • Portable and practical. Forbidden objects and dangerous goods are banned. Flashlight is rather needed since sometimes you have to set off early in the morning and back to your hotel till late at night. You should also bring some daily necessities with you since the accommodation conditions might be pretty poor. Multifunctional Cross-shaped Knife could be used to peel the fruits, open the drinks and canned food.

Enough Cash: 

  • There are only few banks in Lhasa and Shigatse such as Bank of China, China Construction Bank, and Agricultural Bank of China due to the limited conditions. Thus tourists are suggested to take enough cash instead of credit card. You can exchange for cash in such banks but foreign currency exchanging service only offered by Bank of China and a few hotels. It’s not convenient to withdraw money in other area of Tibet and even only cash can be accepted. 

While in travel

High Altitude Sickness: 

  • The high altitude sickness is a normal phenomenon on plateau, and you shouldn’t be too worried about it. Generally, these symptoms would disappear in one or two days after you adapt to the plateau environment. You should sleep enough and drink much water. During the adjustment period, you should not do some violent activities; appropriate clothes should be worn so as to prevent yourself from the cold.

Political Issues: 

  • Political issues are very sensitive in Tibet. It is not advisable to discuss the Tibet issue with the local Tibetans.

Not Do in Photography: 

  • You should also realize that not all the Tibetans would like to be photographed, especially the Tibetan women. You’d better ask for their permission before you take pictures.

Traditions and Customs: 

  • Tour guide will detail the folk customs and taboos of Tibetan nationality and the Hui nationally, which we couldn’t violate.
